Activated by selecting "Text Conversion" from the Options menu.  Make any format option changes by selecting the appropriate button. If the input format is a custom filter, then the only fields affected by this selection are those fields that have their attributes set for text conversion (see the Custom Filter chapter).  Otherwise, without a filter as the input format, all fields will be affected by this selection.
